There are times when i wonder if i am still the same sane gwen. Like today.


The words OOH LA LA. Where do they come from? I have a theory*.


I think they originated from the Chinese. Hokkien people to be exact. hmm, and because its the Taiwanese who speak mainly hokkien, it must have originated from them.


One day a chinese man must be holidaying somewhere on France's beaches. Being as a chinese person always is, economical and always on a lookout for business opportunities, he was digging in the sand.

Not really expecting to find anything except seashells, certainly not gold, he came across "OOO LA LA!!!" (got la la!) he must have been excited at the prospect of realising that in this other part of the world there exist LA LA as well as he exclaimed his surprise/excitement.

Coincedently, a french lady was in his line of sight and she took his exictment as his interpretation of the universal wolf whistle for her natural beauty. That must be what they were using (Ooh la la) instead of whistling these days she thought. And so she passed it on..with a french accent.
